Welcome to the Board of Trustees
The board of trustees is composed of members of the local school community, plus the school principal, a teacher representative and a board secretary. Most members of the board have been elected directly by the community to represent them; board member(s) may also be co-opted by the board. All members of the board are volunteers.
The board represents the school community and is responsible for the governance of the school. As a board we set the general direction of the school through the creation of school policies. The principal is then responsible for the management of the school. This requires the principal to handle the day-to-day running of the school and to implement the board policies through curriculum plans, school procedures etc.
In 2021 the board will be meeting on the following dates:

Board meetings start at 7.00pm. Meetings are held in the staffroom at the school, or electronically (see below).
All meetings are open to the public, and all members of the public are very welcome. However, if you wish to speak at a board meeting then you need to obtain speaking rights. There are definite procedures around speaking rights. If you wish to speak at a meeting then contact the board chairman (email@example.com) or board secretary (firstname.lastname@example.org) well before the meeting and they will give you the information you require. If you are just coming to observe, then no notice is required; you can just come along. Just be aware that if the board needs to discuss some private issues the board can move into 'Publicly Excluded Business (PEB)', at which time any members of the public attending the meeting will be required to leave temporarily. Once the publicly excluded business is concluded then the public will be invited back into the meeting.
Especially in the current Alert environments, some meetings may be held ELECTRONICALLY, as provided for in the Education Act 1989. Of course these meetings are also open to the public. If you wish to attend/observe, please email email@example.com at least 24 hours in advance to receive an electronic invitation. The speaking and PEB rules still apply.
