Teina (Yr 5-6) Camp Information Notice

The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you of key information about our upcoming camp in term 4 and to seek the names of those who are willing and available to assist at the camp and/or in the lead up to camp.
General Camp information
Who: Y5-6 students.
Where: Karakariki Christian Camp. 471 Karakariki Road, Whatawhata 3289. ph: 07-829 8665
When: From Wednesday 30th November to Friday 2nd December. We will be arriving at the camp at approximately 10.00am Wednesday and will be leaving at 2.00pm on Friday. There will be two nights of sleeping over at camp (Wednesday and Thursday).
Camp visitors: Whaanau will be able to come on the campsite.
Attendance: Attendance at the camp is voluntary, and we hope that everyone can and will attend. For any families who elect for their child not to attend camp, attendance at school is still compulsory and those students will be assigned to a classroom for the period of the camp.
Cost:The cost to attend the camp is $60.00 per student.
The cost of these camp options are low compared to what other schools charge their students. This is because our school board subsidised half of the costs. They value EOTC (Education Outside of the Class) and want all our tamariki to have these outdoor experiences.
Payments will be made myKINDO app.
Payment due date: Payment will be due by the morning of Thursday 27th September.
Refunds: If the camp is cancelled or not viable, everyone will receive a refund.
Required gear: Start to think about gathering, bedding, nightwear, warm and cool clothing changes for three days, wet weather gear, swimwear, towels, footwear, personal hygiene gear. Please don’t buy anything new unless you were planning to do so anyway; camps tend to be hard on equipment. Bring a packed morning tea and lunch on the Wednesday of camp.
Risk Management: A risk management plan will be developed for this camp and you will be notified when it can be viewed online.
